The Microwave Theory and Techniques Society annually, financially and/or technically, sponsors or co-sponsors approximately 45 national and international symposia, conferences, and workshops of interest to MTT-S membership.

The Society's premier conference, the International Microwave Symposium (IMS), for 2011 was held in Baltimore, Md on June 5-11, 2011. The Conference features a large trade show as well as a wide variety of technical papers and workshops. Co-located with the IMS are the annual ARFTG Symposium and RFIC Symposium. A list of the dates and locations of past and future IMS can be found here.

For the first time, IEEE.tv provided live and recorded coverage of IMS2011 events. The IEEE.tv IMS2011 Event Showcase can be viewed here. A Sights and Sounds video of IMS2011 can be viewed here. The IMS Plenary Session featured Professor J. David Rhodes, Professor Emeritus at Leeds Univesity, who described the migration of WCDMA and LTE into existing cellular bands can be viewed here. The IMS Closing Ceremony Session featured IEEE Fellow Dr. Joseph Guerci, who gave a presentation entitled "Cognitive Radar" which can be viewed  here.
