Technical Committee MTT-17
HF/VHF/UHF Technology
Events ...
MTT-17 has sponsored sessions at the past International Microwave Symposia, progressing from a rump (evening) session to a focused session, and two regular sessions.

The topics included driving plasma loads, RF ID, class-E power amplifiers, class-F power amplifiers, RF-power MOSFETs, simulation, modulators, ultra-linear amplifiers, linearization, power detectors, mixers, GPS receivers, and digital signal processing.

The 200 - 300 attendees at each session is a clear signal that there is significant interest in these frequency bands!
A committee of the Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
MTT-17 has sponsored workshops of interest to the HF/VHF/UHF community at both IMS'00 in Boston and IMS'01 in Phoenix.

The topics include power amplifiers, base stations, silicon RF-power transistors, 3G hardware, and characteristics of multicarrier signals. All of these workshops have been well-attended, generally filling to capacity.

MTT-17 10th Anniversary Reception
Technical committee (MTT-17) for HF, VHF, and UHF technology was created at the International Microwave Symposium IMS'97 in Denver to serve the needs of some 26,000 RF engineers who work at frequencies below 1 GHz.

At IMS 2007 (Hawaii, June 2007) we commemorated our TEN YEARS of existence.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Technical Committee MTT-17 presented a talk on "Trends in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)"” by J. Thomas Vaughn.  Dr. Vaughn is a professor at the University of Minnesota and a recognized expert on the RF aspects of MRI, an important tool for medical diagnostics and other applications and a major application of HF/VHF/UHF technology.  [Download PDF (9MB) of the conference].
