2020 President's Message

Welcome to the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S), the MHz to THz Community.

The history of the IEEE and MTT-S tells a story of success, owed to the dedication and motivation of our volunteers. MTT-S has gone through a number of name changes; a professional group, technical group then later the IEEE MTT-S.

Our MTT-S is going through exciting times, the society is strong technically and financially, and the industry is thriving with new thrilling projects. Together we must continue to strengthen MTT-S position as the back bone for microwave engineering technical activities worldwide. Almost every corner of the world has an exciting MTT-S event this year, starting with our four flagship conferences; the International Microwave Symposium in Los Angeles, the International Wireless Symposium in China, the Latin America Microwave Conference in Columbia and the International Microwave and RF conference in India, and many more conferences and workshops all around the world.

MTT-S has comprehensive educational programmes, putting student in microwave engineering around the world at its focus. Students are the future of our society, it is important to provide the best support and encouragement possible for our future leaders and key technical contributors. Several initiatives, local and international, are available to student members.

Our Society is comprised and run by volunteers, and its success can only go further with the effort of more volunteers. We are fortunate to have inspiring members amongst us, their selfless effort is paramount, without them, our success will fade out, and the society will struggle to exist.

Getting elected to the office of President is an absolute honour. I am humbled to have been trusted with this role, it is a wonderful opportunity to build on the success of my predecessors, and I look forward towards a bright future.

As 2020 takes off, I look forward to meeting you at one of the society’s events. My “Electronic Door” will always be open to hear any feedback, suggestions or constructive criticism. If you would like to get more involved in the MTT-S please send me an e-mail with a short description of your interests, and I will get back to you about possible positions within the society. I hope we will enjoy the journey together and land successfully on major accomplishments this year.
