Biography

Costas D. Sarris received the M.Sc. degree in applied mathematics and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 2002.

He is currently a Full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada. His research interests are in the area of computational electromagnetics, with an emphasis on high-order, multiscale computational methods, modeling under stochasticuncertainty, and applications of numerical methods to wireless channel modeling, wave propagation in complex media and meta-materials, wireless power transfer, and electromagnetic compatibility/interference problems.

Prof. Sarris was a recipient of the IEEE MTT-S 2013 Outstanding Young Engineer Award. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE JOURNAL ON MULTISCALE AND MULTIPHYSICS COMPUTATIONAL TECHNIQUES and the Chair of the MTT-S Technical Committee on Microwave Field Theory. He was the TPC Chair for the 2015 IEEE AP-S International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and CNC/USNC Joint Meeting, the TPC Vice-Chair for the 2012 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium. He served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON MICROWAVE THEORY AND TECHNIQUES from 2009 to 2013 and the IEEE MICROWAVE AND WIRELESS COMPONENTS LETTERS from 2007 to 2009.
